The Springfield Chamber of Commerce, again put together
another successful street fair in September.
Along with the food and fun, the crafts and jewelry vendors, the home
improvement, bank and insurance companies was our very own Springfield Volunteer
First Aid Squad who was out in full regalia.
Between that days emergency calls the squad had both ambulances available for
even the youngest at the fair to get a tour inside and out.
This year the Springfield Volunteer First Aid Squad also handed out First Aid
coloring books for the younger attendees showing them the importance of safety
and first aid.
The volunteer members of the Springfield First Aid Squad also spoke to many who
attended about their need for new members. Members are the most important
ingredient in the mix needed to provide quality care to our patients, your
neighbors.
If you are interested in joining The Springfield Volunteer First Aid Squad, a
membership application is available online at
springfieldfas.org/volunteer.html. Or, if you are not ready to commit just yet,
please drop us an e-mail at membership@springfieldfas.org
or call 973-376-2040 and leave a
message. We'll get in touch with you to answer any questions. If you are
interested, we can arrange for you to ride-along with one of our crews for up to
a month to see if this is for you.
No prior experience is needed as the Squad will provide you with the training
you need, either in-house or by paying the costs associated with outside
training programs. The only requirements are that you be age 16 or older, be in
good physical health and be interested in helping others. The First Aid Squad
will provide all the training you need, uniforms, and liability & life insurance.
