Scholarship for Experienced Volunteers

While donations are critical to supporting our mission, our greatest need is people. Volunteers are the most important ingredient in the mix needed to provide quality care to our patients. Volunteers also order supplies, maintain our equipment & headquarters, train, schedule, and much more.

The Springfield First Aid Squad offers a scholarship to volunteers members that

  1. have at least one year of 9-1-1 EMS experience, as a licensed EMT, and
  2. are enrolled in an accredited post-secondary school, college or university.

Eligible members serving on duty a minimum of 200 hours between January 1 and June 30 shall be awarded a scholarship of $2000, or their total tuition for the term whichever is less, payable to their selected educational institution in July.

Eligible members serving on duty a minimum of 200 hours between July 1 and December 31 shall be awarded a scholarship of $2000, or their total tuition for the term whichever is less, payable to their selected educational institution the following January.

Members may be awarded both the January and June scholarships (i.e., up to $4000 per year) for as long as they are enrolled in an accredited post-secondary program.

If you are interested in joining, a membership application is available online.

Or, if you are not ready to commit just yet, drop us an e-mail at membership@springfieldfas.org or call 973-908-8EMS. We’ll get in touch with you to answer any questions and, if you are interested, arrange for you to ride-along with one of our crews to see if this is a commitment that is for you.
